Jan Zehrfeld, guitarist and composer of Panzerballett, about the song Pick Up the Pieces:
“Pick Up the Pieces” takes the classic funk groove and makes it our own by shifting between fours, fives, and sevens as subdivisions. I wanted to preserve the original spirit of the song, but with a unique Panzerballett twist. The track is intricate, funky, and definitely headbanging material! It’s got that groove, but it’s also complex enough to keep both the jazz and metal listeners engaged.”

This new single follows the band’s tradition of reworking classic pieces into their unique style. As part of a series of Panzerballett tracks rearranged in quintuplets or septuplets, this version takes things further by combining it all. The track is a true testament to the band’s mastery of blending funk, jazz, and metal with stunning precision and humor, making it an unmissable experience for fans of all genres.

Pick Up the Pieces is not just a reimagining; it’s part of the band’s signature series of tracks that rework well-known tunes into jazz-metal masterpieces. The combination of complex rhythms and groovy hooks makes “Pick Up the Pieces” the perfect introduction to the band’s upcoming full-length album, Übercode Œuvreslated for release on April 25, 2025.

Übercode Œuvre takes Panzerballett‘s musical vision to new heights, featuring contributions from world-class drummers like Virgil Donati, Marco Minnemann, Anika Nilles, and others. With compositions that blend classical, jazz, and metal influences, the album explores new sonic territories while maintaining the signature humor and virtuosity that the band is known for.
